MANILA, Philippines -- National University went on a final quarter rampage to beat De La Salle University, 63-56, in the last game of the 76th UAAP men's basketball tournament first round on Sunday, July 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Holding a precarious 43-42 lead when the 4th period began, the Bulldogs leaned on a spree by Ray Parks to drop a 14-2 bomb and move ahead, 57-44, with 4 minutes on the clock.
The Green Archers fought back behind Arnold van Opstal and Thomas Torres and came to as close as 3 at 59-56 with 16.4 seconds remaining.
But Gelo Alolino sank two free-throws to give NU a 61-56 with 10 ticks left to secure the Bulldogs' 4th victory. -Rappler.com
